How to take nice pictures of your kids in harsh sunlight

How many times have you heard this: “You want to take photos during the golden hour when the sun is low. You’ll get the most beautiful light then”. Awesome. Do these people have kids? I don’t know about you but the hours before the sun sets are known as dinner, bath, and batsh*t crazy toddler meltdown time. Usually. It’s not easy taking two toddlers outside to frolic in cute outfits in a meadow full of daisies shortly before bedtime and then attempting to coerce them into cooperating for a photo shoot. Good luck with that bro.

Sometimes I get lucky but usually it looks a little something like this.

How-to-Shoot-In-Harsh-Sunlight If you’re a mom who isn’t looking to win awards or have her work hanging in a fancy gallery there is nothing wrong with shooting when the sun is high and the light is harsh. If you’re like me then you spend a lot of time outdoors between the hours of 12:00 – 4:00 with your kids. They do really cute things. Of course you want to capture these moments. They’re snapshots of our lives and shouldn’t be passed up. However there’s nothing wrong with wanting to take the best shots you can. Here are some tips:
