I love participating in Melissa of Adventuroo weekly meme 'Capture The Everyday'. Melissa has a knack for choosing topics that make me nod my head vigorously in agreement or jump up in down in my head in participatory anticipation.

This week's assignment is books you are reading or in my case 'Books My Kids Won't Let Me Read'.

Reading has always been a huge part of my life. I absolutely love it. It is one of the very few things I miss about my prior child free existence. I don't sweat it too much since I know someday my kids will be out in their hover cars running around and having a good time, while I sit at home waiting for them to come home I will have nothing but time on my hands. THEN I can read. Anyway I do miss it and still make feeble attempts. Here are the five books I am currently attempting to read:

Little Stranger by Sarah Waters: I started this book when I was pregnant with C last year. I do not even remember what it is about. Something about a creepy house and a doctor. Maybe some eccentric once wealthy people living in a beat up old mansion. I have no idea. I really need to pick this one back up.

Teaching Montessori in the Home: The Preschool Years by Elizabeth G. Hainstock and Lee Havis: I am about two pages deep into this one. It seems like a decent read with some creative information on keeping a toddler entertained. So far all I have digested is "give kids pots and pans / their own special drawer or cabinet" Done. Easy. Now if only I could finish the rest. Seriously the book is like two pages long. It is absurd that I cannot get a second to read it.

Positive Discipline: The First Three Years by Jane Nelsen Ed.D., Cheryl Erwin, & Roslyn Ann Duffy: I was really enjoying this book. Lots of wonderful tips. Something strange happens every single time I try to read this book: P rips out pages. There is something in this book that he does not want me to read. I am thinking of buying the iPad version just so I can finish it.

Dishing up Vermont by Tracey Medeiros: This is a beautiful cookbook my friend Susan gave me for Christmas. I haven't been able to try a recipe yet since my toddler won't keep his grubby little mitts off the lovely pictures of food long enough for me to decide what I want to cook. Sigh. Someday.

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel: This is the book I would most like to finish. I am a HUGE fan of Elizabethan era historical fiction. Wolf Hall centers around Henry VIII's right hand man Thomas Cromwell. I have always been interested in Cromwell. He was one of the original political geniuses. Very intriguing man. I am looking forward to seeing how Mantel weaves Cromwell's personal and political lives into a work of fiction. (Don't make fun of me. I already told you I have Elizabeth I motto tattooed on my forearm. I told you I was a HUGE fan.)
