I cook. I clean. Never smell like onion rings. Me as a stay at home mom.
Veronica Armstrong
If you follow me on twitter then you have already heard the news but I am now a stay at home mom. My husband and I decided that at this time it is what is best for our family. Some people have jumped to conclusions regarding our decision which is another issue altogether. Don't even get me started with how annoying the constant "Wow you're coming back to work after your second baby? Won't you just be working to pay for daycare?" questions were.
I wanted to scream NOPE we make more than enough to afford daycare and all our other living expenses however thanks for your (incredibly rude and tactless) concern! Anyway as usual I have digressed.
Me in my froggy bathrobe. I live in it.
I am now spending my days at home with 17 month old Pweezy & 3 month old Killa Cam. Yes the kids share their nicknames with rappers. Needless to say this is a massive adjustment for all of us. I never imagined what my life would be like as a stay at home mother because it was never my reality. I have worked professionally for the last eleven years (I started way too young due to some fortunate nepotism) and never thought that someday I would be responsible for my own children!
I have a million questions and a hundred million concerns. Will I survive? Will P burn the house down while I shower? What are we supposed to do all day? I DON'T KNOW! I have no idea what I am doing but I do know I want to do whatever it is that I am doing as best as I can. Did you follow that?
We have plenty of toys at our house but it is not going to be enough to keep P occupied. The child has a disturbing fascination with balls of all kinds that borders on obsession (more on that at a later date). There are balls everywhere and a ton of other toys too but I am going shopping this weekend for more child friendly activities/supplies. It is ridiculously hard to nurse C while P is stacking blocks right next to me. He cracked me in the face with one of those once and I will not let it happen to C.
I'll be back with more to share regarding my transition but naptime is almost over. In the meantime please share your stay at home mom and dad secrets with me. What do your routines consist of? How do you maintain your sanity? For those of you that blog when the hell do you find the time?!?
