Milestone Madness

I love it when Suzanne from Bebehblog does her monthly milestone post for her adorable son. Every time she does it I remember to do mine. I suggest you check out her blog by the way. She has a seven week old so cute I would grab her like a football and run if Suzanne and I were neighbors. THAT cute. Anyway here we go.

Pweezy: Eighteen Months

According to Babycenter this is what P & C should be up to:

Mastered Skills (most kids can do):

Will "read" board books on his own; Scribbles well

He has both of these skills mastered. He loves reading his book about trucks to me and recently completed this masterpiece.

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do): Strings two words together in phrases, Brushes teeth with help, Stacks four blocks

P is a chatterbox and he will often say things like: kiss baby, teeth brush, grandma phone. Oh and "what's that?". He has been saying "what's that" for EVER and he asks about everything. Constantly. It is hilarious. Sometimes he even gets excited and says "what's that that that is thatthatthat".

He LOVES brushing his teeth. He has five toothbrushes because he is not content to use his own. P always swipes adult toothbrushes leftover from dentist visits and uses them like chew toys. I'm okay with that. There are worse things. He does put up a fight on occasion when my husband or I get in with the finger brush to finish the job but overall he is brushing twice a day and I am proud. I'm not too hard to impress.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do): Throws a ball overhand, Takes toys apart and puts them back together, Shows signs of toilet training readiness

I am not showing off but P has been throwing balls overhand since at least a year old. He is obsessed with balls. We have at least twenty balls in the house of varying size. I have heard him talking about balls in his sleep. He used to get upset while watching basketball because the players wouldn't pass him the ball. OBSESSED!

P does take toys apart to put them back together. He occasionally asks for help because he gets frustrated but overall he handles it on his own which is nice since I have other things to do like hide in the closet eating cupcakes.

And for the grand finale YES he is showing signs of toilet training readiness. He has been telling me he "poot'd" after the fact and a few times warned me beforehand. I am waiting for the BabyBjorn potty as we speak! I am so excited to see whether he will use the thing or not. SO excited. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up because some kids use the potty for a little while and then decide they hate it until they are two but according to Babycenter's Milestone Chart he is a genius. I expect to see him grabbing the iPad and heading to the toilet on his own very soon.

Killa Cam (I know some of you are not fond of the rapper nicknames but I haven't thought of anything better for C yet. I'm working on it: Four Months

Mastered Skills (most kids can do): Smiles, laughs, Can bear weight on legs, Coos when you talk to him

C is the most smiley baby I have ever seen in my life. We love it because P was incredibly surly at this age. He was always giving us the b*tch please face when he was a baby so this is lovely. She always laughs when she is bearing weight on her legs. She thinks pretending to walk and dance is a riot. C coos. All is well here.

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do): Can grasp a toy, Rolls over, from tummy to back

C loves to play with balls (surprise) and rip my glasses off of my face with both hands. She is great at grasping. As for rolling over I am not sure. She has a few times and I have seen her attempt a few other times. Once she got frustrated with me so I put her down and realized she was mad because she wanted to practice rolling over. I do not think she has mastered this skill yet though.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do): Imitates sounds: "baba," "dada", Cuts first tooth, May be ready for solid foods

Cam makes noise and likes to let everyone know that she is around. I am not sure she is imitating I think she is just being funny.

She is definitely teething. Although she is handling it well I feel badly. It seems too soon to have her go through that annoying pain.

Cam would LOVE to eat some of our food but I am waiting to introduce solids. I've dipped my finger in some frozen treats for her to suck on since she won't use anything as a teether but I cannot bring myself to feed a baby so young. Her pediatrician appointment is coming up soon and I will ask for advice but I still probably won't feed her until she is at the very least five and a half months old.

She has been sitting up without support, playing with her feet, responding to her name, and laughing hysterically when her brother jumps up and down in front of her. She is so happy and wonderful to be around.

How are your kids doing?
