Time is flying by at break neck speed. Pweezy is 22 months old. It is scary. My boy will be 2 soon and I will not be able to use my old 2 under 2 excuse for leaving the house with holes in my pants and carrots in my hair. Darn. According to Babycenter this is what P should be up to right now.

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

Kicks ball forward & Follows two-step requests(e.g., "Get your doll and bring it here")

P has been kicking balls forward since 10-11 months old. He has a very well documented obsession with basketballs, soccer balls, golf balls, etc.

He has also been following two-step requests for a long time. I think it started around 14 months when I asked him for the remote because it was Maury time. I was so excited to have a fetching baby. It is most unfortunate that I can no longer watch Maury in his presence since he is well aware that something just isn't right with those people. It sucks, I really miss the paternity pandemonium.

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)

Does simple puzzles, Draws a straight line, & Names several body parts

P has a Melissa & Doug truck puzzle that he is very fond of, has drawn many straight lines on walls, and can name all visible body parts. He is fond of poking at one's bellybutton in an obnoxious manner and pinching nipples whenever possible. He calls them nimples and it is funny. Unless it is your nipple then it is really disturbing and pinchy.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

Puts on loose-fitting clothes, Might be ready for a big bed, & Understands opposites (e.g., tall vs. short)

P has recently begun attempting to dress himself with limited success. He is not quite there yet. We JUST converted his crib to a big bed last night. He seemed cool with it but time will tell on this one as well.

He understands opposites such as big and little but we have not gone over short and tall.

Seems P is doing a-okay according to Babycenter. The thing about P is that he is very different. He has an unusual memory and vocabulary for a child his age and often does things that are unbelievable.

A few weeks ago he grabbed a paper towel roll and proceeded to hunch over like an old man and use the roll as a cane. Why? Who knows.

Whenever a doorbell rings he shouts "PIZZA HUT!". We had Pizza Hut once. A month ago. At his great Grandmother's house. Clearly he enjoyed it because he will not stop talking about it.

He knows when the car needs gas, he bites his pancakes into shapes like dinosaurs and then shows them off to me, and he discussed a full moon with his father.

It's funny how he is still a baby yet a grown little man at the same time. He is so much fun and I wouldn't change a thing about him - except for the Caillou fascination.

C: 8 months

Mastered Skills (most kids can do)

Says "mama" and "dada" to both parents (isn't specific) & Passes objects from hand to hand

Check. She does both. Cmoney has always been more vocal than her brother ever was. She is/was always cooing loudly. We enjoy it tremendously. She laughs a lot too. I never get tired of hearing it.

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do)

Stands while holding onto something, Crawls, Points at objects, & Searches for hidden objects

C will stand while holding my hands, JUST started crawling efficiently this week, and is incredibly focused when it comes to getting something she wants whether it is in plain view or hidden. It is complete insanity. One would think with all the wiggling this giant baby does I would be thin as a rail but alas it is not to be.

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do)

Pulls self to standing, cruises, Picks things up with thumb-finger pincer grasp, & Indicates wants with gestures

C is constantly trying to stand but hasn't quite made it yet. She does not cruise (thank God). She is not yet efficiently using her pincer grasp but she does indicate when she wants something. There is no doubt when C is displeased. She is the happiest baby ever until she doesn't get what she wants. She will lunge or shout or...it just gets crazy.

She does have crippling separation anxiety. I cannot leave her line of vision lest hell break loose. It is rough but there are worse things and hey who doesn't like to feel wanted? RIGHT?!?! right.

The coolest thing C is doing right now is clapping on command. My mother taught her and it is the sweetest thing you can imagine. She is still super fond of Elmo and calms down whenever she hears his creepy ass voice. Her father sings the itsy bitsy spider to her and she smiles so broadly that her dimples take over her entire cheeks.

The kids are great and I am thankful.
