Save babies. Honor Cora.
I met Kristine on Twitter and had the privilege of meeting her in person last August at BlogHer. She is a friend and an inspiration to me. Kristine lost her beloved daughter Cora to a CHD (congenital heart defect) and has become a tireless advocate for pulse oximetry screening, a simple test that can detect CHDs in infants and save lives. Today is Newborn Heart Defect Screening Awareness day. Please take a moment to learn a bit about CHD and pulse ox. You could save a child's life. No parent should have to suffer the loss of their child. Pulse Ox makes early detection for CHD possible and early detection is key to life saving treatment.
Nothing is more important.
- Please take the pledge to ask about pulse ox newborn screening or to tell pregnant friends about it.
- Wear pink or do a good deed in Cora's name today.
- The Pulse Oximetry test must be done within twenty-four hours of a child's life. Print this sheet, keep it in your hospital bag (if you're not pregnant please share with friends, family, and neighbors), and discuss it with your healthcare providers.
Keep up with the Pulse Ox Awareness day and Save Babies movement on Twitter, Facebook, or on the website.
