Thursday Ranting: Celebrity Daddy Douchebaggery

Terius “The Dream” Nash an R&B/pop singer-songwriter & record producer is the husband of Christina Milian an occasional R&B/pop singer (I guess. I don't know. What kind of music was "Dip it Low"?) and father to three month old Violet.

Recently he was asked about his role as a father and shared responsibilities and responded with the following douchebaggery:

The Dream's Douchebaggery

“I don’t because my “helping out” turns into expectations. I’ll get Violet on a late night maybe one or two times, but after that, no. If Christina’s tired, call the nanny, call Violet’s granny. We got people.”

It amuses me how he even considers caring for his infant daughter "helping out". I thought that was a parental obligation. Sadly I think a lot of people in general (deadbeats come in all parental forms sadly) have this attitude.

Why bother having a child if at any time you are inconvenienced you will happily hand off your responsibilities to someone else? If you do not enjoy parenting why bother fathering a child?

Let me know whether you agree with me or not on this one but even at my most exhausted there is no one in the world I would want taking care of my child other than myself or my husband. 95% of the time. Of course everyone needs an occasional break but this dude is pushing it. 2 or 3 times? That's it? Come on bro.

Sadly I know all too well that people like this exist and all I can do is wag my old lady finger at them and be thankful that I have a responsible caring co-parent. This is not some sort of breaking news it's just that I was taken aback with the ease with which he admitted his deadbeatyness. I guess I'll give him props for that. He is a bum but at least he owns it.

The Dream is a douche.
