Summertime Fun in the Garden

We haven't been here long but we have definitely been making the rounds in Central New York. One of our favorite places is the Ithaca Children's Garden. It is a public three acre children's garden that develops, implements, and provides a variety of educational programs for children of all ages. Once a week we bring Pweezy and Cmoney to storytime in the garden. They absolutely love it. First the children surround the storyteller while seated under the shade atop tree stump seats and listen contently while being read a fun tale. Then the children make their way to the garden where they can water, plant, and dig to their heart's content. The volunteers and employees are extremely helpful and sweet. I asked them where I could find a mint plant since the leaves have been hard to find at all the local markets. They gave me a mint plant! A whole mint plant just for me. There will be many mojitos my friends.

Pweezy plays a little in the garden and walks around smelling and watering flowers. Once he and Cmoney grow tired of that area we head over to some little houses that are scattered about the property. We sit in the shade and have a snack.

If you are ever in Ithaca or the surrounding area you should definitely check the garden out.
