Ready to improve your blog photography?
One of the things I enjoy most about ClickinMoms' photography community is the diversity of their offerings. Of course I love the forum but I adore the breakouts, the free tutorials, and their e-learning products. I'm excited to bring you a review and giveaway about a topic that is very near and dear to me: how to improve the visual aesthetics of your blog with photography.
Blog photography. It matters. A ton. In a world that is saturated with blogs of every kind, gorgeous photos can help set you apart from the masses.
I can't tell you enough what a huge difference increasing the quality of my photographs has made for my blogging career. Some wonderful opportunities have come my way because of my commitment to improving my photography skills.
I'm very thankful and have come a long way in a short time. Check these out. Now take a look at these. The progress is ridiculous. I've worked hard but I've also had the good fortune to read the right material. When asked what I owe my growth to I name two things: self teaching via a few awesome books and ClickinMoms.
One of the books I read early on in my photography journey was Blast Into the Blogosphere.
When I read the book I was a few months deep into my obsessive learning so some of the information was not new to me, however I still found it valuable.
Here's why.
- The example images are stunning and illustrate the book's points well. For instance: mind your background. Sounds straightforward right? Seeing examples of what a huge difference moving your feet or clearing your background can make is game changing. It will make you a believer. I'm a very visual person and had an a-ha moment or two upon seeing the examples.
- The price is perfect. $15 for a forty page color e-book full of gorgeous photographs.
- There is something for every blogger, from the pro who wants to take her blog to the next level to the super busy and low on time blogger who doesn't want to spend all day shooting but wants to improve the visual quality of her content.
- The message is awesome. Blast = B: Background - L: Lighting - A: Alignment - S: Slow Down - T: Think ahead. All technical photographic principles but in simple to understand universal blogger language. No pretentiousness or high level jargon.
The book is truly great but I would really like to see a companion resource for slightly more advanced photo snapping bloggers who are eager to learn more. I know I'd buy that in an instant. Blast is so inspiring that it leaves you craving a bit more.
Perhaps a few ebooks tailored to different blog niches? Food photography? Pets? Ooh and maybe a bit about blog photography and SEO? There are so many options. I admire ClickinMoms commitment to include all levels of photographers and only expect good things from them in the future.
Make yourself some tea or coffee, put on some fuzzy slippers, and check out Blast Into the Blogosphere. It's a tiny investment with big rewards.
